Patients who attend appointments with our Dentists at Hollis Dental Practice receive Mouth Cancer Screening during the routine examination. We check every part of the mouth, including the teeth, bones, gums, soft tissue, and jaw joints, for potential issues. Thorough mouth examinations improve the chances of detecting oral cancer early, which can improve survival rates up 90 per cent according to the British Dental Association.
What We Look For
During our examination, we consider other factors, such as being over 40 years of age and being male. Our Dentists may also ask about your lifestyle choices, such as if you smoke, to determine your risk of developing cancer.
When screening our patients for cancer, we look for lesions or lumps in the mouth, lips, or tongue. These can be red or white and are generally painless.
We have been coming to this dental practice for over 25 years and during that time have received first class treatment in a friendly & professional environment. Many thanks.
I registered at the practice as an NHS patient and I was very pleasantly surprised. Friendly receptionist and the dentist Dr Sam Protty was brilliant (and calming). He told me straight away what is the issue with my front teeth what other dentists failed to identify in the past 5 years.
